Dr. Frederic F. Clairmont was for many years a Permanent Senior Economics Affairs Officer in the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He is one of the world's leading international marketing ans financial analysts

He combined his duties as a UN civil servant with academia. He taught at the Indian Institute of Science ( Bangalore), University of King's College and Dalhousie University in Canada, the University of Lovanium and Ecole Nationale de Droit et d'Administration in the Congo and The Stockhoém School of Economics.

He was educated at Sir George Williams Veteran College and McGill University in Montreal. He completed his graduate school at the University of Geneva.

He is the author of the classic work: "The Rise and Fall of Economic Liberalism"

and several major works on transnational control of global commodities markets.

He is an active collaborator of Le Monde Diplomatique, Third World Resurgence, Economic and Political Weekly, and the Journal of Contemporary Asia.
